About The Club at Cress Creek
The Club at Cress Creek traces its origins to Margaret "Maggie" Drennen, a Charleston, West Virginia native who, at 65, persuaded her husband, Judge William M. Drennen, to buy 10 acres in Shepherdstown. Taken with the land, she soon acquired the remaining 250 acres from family friend Henry Shepherd. With help from her son-in-law, Hank Walter, the family studied options for the property, and a consultant concluded it suited a recreational amenity paired with a custom home community.

The club takes its name from the watercress growing in the stream that runs through the course. The original nine holes correspond to today's 10, 11, 18, 1, 2, 6, 7, 8 and 9; a second nine was added in 1991, bringing the layout to 18 holes.
In 2014 the club was sold to three of its members, Dr. Troy Foster, Fred Parsons and Eric Lewis.
