Guyan Golf & Country Club opens with a par 5 where the tee shot sets up the hole; only long hitters can realistically think about reaching the green in two, and the putting surface is known for repelling shots back down the fairway.
The second hole climbs uphill from tee to green with dense woodland tight on both sides, demanding accuracy as well as length. Its two-tiered green is fronted by a false front that punishes any misjudged approach.
The third offers a short iron into an elevated green from either side of its sloping fairway, while wayward drives leave players negotiating stands of oaks said to be two centuries old.
