Tribute Golf Course
About Tribute Golf Course
Tribute Golf Course in Wausau opened in August 1929, built by American Legion Post 10 as the city's first public golf course. Known locally as the American Legion Golf Course, or simply "The Legion," it served generations of area players and was later renamed Tribute in honor of those who have served the country.
The layout went largely unaltered for decades. Under the current ownership, several new tee areas were added, along with an entirely new par-three hole built on a former pitching field just south of the parking lot, which came into regular play in 2022. That addition brings the course to ten playable holes, giving the owners room to renovate other holes without having to reduce the course to eight during construction.
