About Wisconsin River Golf Club
Wisconsin River Golf Club began in 1959 as Wisconsin River Country Club, founded by Charles and Tessie Teeter, who set aside part of their land for a golf and hospitality destination. Work on the original nine — now called the river nine — started that year, with members themselves helping clear and shape a rustic layout. The 37 charter members first played late in 1960, and a clubhouse converted from a two-car garage opened in 1961, gaining six additions over the following nine years.

Construction of the second nine, now known as the road nine, began in 1969, and the full eighteen holes were playable in 1970. On August 11 of that year, lightning set the original clubhouse ablaze and it burned to the ground. A replacement was begun in the fall of 1970, completed the following spring, and still stands today.
The Teeter family ran the course until around 1980, after which it passed through several owners over the next six years.
