About Wanaki Golf Course
Wanaki Golf Course in Menomonee Falls is an 18-hole layout owned and operated as part of the Waukesha County park system. The property was first laid out as a private club, known in turn as The Meadows and Westwood Country Club, before the Waukesha County Park and Planning Commission bought the partially developed site in 1967.
After revisions to the original design, nine holes opened for play in 1970, with the full 18 following in 1971. A full-service clubhouse replaced the course's small starter shack in 1990.

The land carries older history as well: a sawmill operated here in the 1800s, with the Fox River running through the center of the site. The same property was the scene of Waukesha County's first documented murder in 1845, the result of a dispute between two sawmill partners.
