About Nakoma Golf Club
Nakoma Golf Club traces its origins to June 23, 1923, when it was founded as Nakoma Country Club with a simple nine-hole layout. A full 18 holes designed by Thomas Bendelow opened in 1925, accompanied by a permanent English Tudor-style clubhouse. Membership grew through the late 1920s and early 1930s, surpassing 300 members. In May 1944, the club was reorganized as a private club under the direction of George Vitense.

The present facility occupies 105 acres in Madison, Wisconsin, and has been refined over the decades with numerous course improvements as well as the addition of a swimming pool and tennis facilities.
The club remains private and continues to follow its founding purpose of operating a private golf course while supporting athletic and social events and fostering friendship among its members.
