About Eagle Springs Golf Resort
Eagle Springs Golf Resort traces its roots to 1866, when Irish immigrants John and Mary Tuohy arrived from Boston and began farming on the western shore of Eagle Springs Lake. The barnyard fence from that original farm still surrounds the course's maintenance barn today.
In 1893 John sold his share of the land to his son William, who saw the lakeside setting as a natural vacation destination. William developed a resort with a large hotel, twelve cottages and an 18-hole golf course. He engaged A.G. Spalding, a former Chicago Cubs pitcher and manager, to lay out the first two holes, leaving the remaining holes to follow the contours of the land.

The resort drew guests from Chicago, Milwaukee and Waukesha, who arrived by train at Eagle and Mukwonago and were carried the rest of the way by horse-drawn buggy. The property's history has been preserved through a mix of family accounts and period records, and continues to be researched.
