About Prairie Woods Golf Course
Prairie Woods Golf Course sits on land farmed by Allen and Lavonne Dorr, who in 1995 set aside the rougher, less workable portion of their property — ground marked by century-old trees, rolling hills and several natural ponds — and had it shaped into a nine-hole course.
After the first nine proved successful, the family engaged Mattingly & Kuehn Golf Design Inc. of Grafton, Wisconsin, to expand the property to a full 18 holes in 1997.
The result is a heavily wooded layout, with mature timber framing the holes closely enough that several shots are played up and out of the forest.
