About Lake Spanaway Golf Course
Lake Spanaway Golf Course is an 18-hole championship layout cut through a forest of native firs south of Tacoma, in central Pierce County near Spanaway Lake. The tree-lined corridors reward long, accurate driving, while the greens are large with breaks that can be subtle.
The course was designed by A. V. Macan, whose other work includes Fircrest in Tacoma, Broadmoor and Inglewood in Seattle, and Royal Colwood in Victoria, and it opened in 1967. The layout is considered a demanding but fair test for golfers of varying ages and abilities.
Lake Spanaway is owned by Pierce County and managed by KemperSports, and forms part of the county's golf group alongside Chambers Bay.
