About Fircrest Golf Club
Fircrest Golf Club traces its origins to an early 1900s land venture led by Major Edward J. Bowes of San Francisco, who imagined a residential community called Regents Park. Unlike the rigid grid neighborhoods common at the time, the plan called for curving residential streets rather than straight roads meeting at right angles. A golf course figured in Bowes' original concept, though the development proved financially disappointing and he had severed his ties to the area long before the club came together.

The club was formed in 1922, incorporated in May 1923 and opened in July 1924. Isaac W. Anderson, manager of the Tacoma Land Company, identified a parcel within the former Regents Park site as well suited to golf and persuaded his nephew, Sydney S. Anderson, along with founding members Earl C. Reynolds, Frank C. Neal, W.B. Stephens, J.A. McLeod, Russell Barlow and Harry Mathews, that the ground would support an 18-hole layout.
