Grays Harbor Country Club
About Grays Harbor Country Club
Grays Harbor Country Club traces its origins to 1911, when William J. Patterson, founder of Aberdeen's Hayes and Hayes Bank, bought a ranch outside town and brought in John Ball to lay out a golf course. Ball, who also contributed to the design of Seattle Golf Club, Bellingham Country Club and Meadow Park Golf Course, served as the club's first golf professional when it opened in 1912 under the name Grays Harbor Golf Club.

The club also played a role in the growth of women's golf in the region. In 1922, Mrs. W.J. Patterson invited women golfers from across Washington to compete at the course, an event that led to the founding of the Washington State Women's Golf Association. She won that first tournament and successfully defended the title the following year.
The clubhouse keeps that history visible, with historic photographs and club championship plaques displayed on its walls.
