Bellows Falls Country Club is a nine-hole, member-owned course in southern Vermont that is open to the public. The club was founded in 1922 as a six-hole course in Saxtons River, and moved in 1923 to its present site in Rockingham, where 95 acres of farmland were purchased, including roughly 50 acres of meadow and pasture, a brook, three natural spring holes and frontage on the Williams River.
The rolling hills, open meadows and natural hazards of the property suited a parkland-style layout, which was routed by Scottish golfer David "Deacon" Brown, winner of the 1886 Open Championship. Over the following century holes were lengthened, the opening and closing holes were altered and other improvements were made, but Brown's 1923 routing remains largely intact.
