About Williamsburg Golf Club
Williamsburg Golf Club, originally known as Williamsburg Country Club, dates to 1958, when 601 acres of farmland were sold by Ben Levinson of the Levinson Live Stock Farm to the newly formed Pleasant View Corporation. The property carries considerable history: it lay along the Williamsburg Line and was tied to the capture of Fort Magruder during the Civil War, when General Magruder's troops helped slow the Union advance toward Richmond. The same fields later served as a cattle storage and shipping point during both World Wars.

Architect William F. Gordon was selected in March 1959 to design the course, choosing the rolling ground for the layout. The first nine holes were finished in October 1959, the original clubhouse opened in February 1960, and the second nine was completed in 1961.
The club occupies 153 acres of rolling fairways, lake and marshland that support a variety of birds and fish. It has hosted a qualifying tournament for the 2004 USGA Women's Open as well as four-ball events in Virginia.
