Schoolhouse Nine Golf Course sits in Rappahannock County, Virginia, beneath Old Rag and the Blue Ridge Mountains. The layout consists of nine par-3 holes measuring between 85 and 171 yards, routed through native wildflower meadows along the Thornton River and past the ruins of the original Smoot Tannery.
The course opened in July 2015 as the first in Rappahannock County. Architect Mike McCartin planned the holes to highlight the surrounding landscape and to remain playable and interesting for golfers of varying ages and skill levels.
