About Roanoke Country Club
Roanoke Country Club is a private club in Roanoke, Virginia, established in 1899 and centered on a 27-hole golf course designed by A.W. Tillinghast.
The club traces its origins to the Roanoke Golf Club, formed after an Englishman, R.P.C. Sanderson, introduced the game locally. A clubhouse, two tennis courts and a nine-hole course were finished in 1908, with additional courts added in 1913 and 1915. After acquiring more land, the club engaged Tillinghast in 1919 to lay out an eighteen-hole course that opened around 1920. Tillinghast designed or remodeled numerous championship courses, among them Baltusrol, Bethpage Black, Winged Foot and Quaker Ridge. A new clubhouse, designed by architects Smithey & Tardy with Robert M. Allen, was completed in 1924 on a hill above the golf course.

Members also have access to indoor and outdoor tennis facilities, a renovated pool area, and two dining rooms, the Terrace Grille and the Tillinghast Grill, both overlooking the course.
