About Providence Golf Club
Providence Golf Club occupies the site of a former course on the Pocoshock Creek property, which closed in 1985. A development team later acquired the land along with an adjacent parcel, adding six new holes on the extra acreage while the ground of the original Pocoshock layout was rebuilt with longer, more open holes, a driving range and a short-game practice area.
Virginia architect Lester George, also responsible for Kinloch Golf Club, designed the current course, completed in 2002 — a rebirth reflected in the club's phoenix logo.

The layout works around quiet ponds, wetlands populated by birdlife and mature trees, with these natural features shaping a varied round. George's routing rewards accurate shotmaking and sets up a number of risk-reward decisions on a modern championship-length course.
