About Great Oaks Country Club
Great Oaks Country Club is an 18-hole course set in the countryside near the Blue Ridge Parkway, with open views of the surrounding landscape.
The club dates to 1966, when a pool was built and work began on the first nine holes. Gene Hamm designed the layout, with the front nine opening in 1968 and the back nine following in 1993. The front side plays mostly open but long, including the 7th, a 423-yard dogleg left. The back nine is shorter and places more emphasis on accuracy from the tee and on putting across large, rolling greens.
A clubhouse serves members and guests, and the course is maintained by an on-site grounds crew.
