About Chesapeake Golf Club
Chesapeake Golf Club broke ground in 1986 and opened the following year as the first golf course built in Chesapeake. It was designed by architect Ellis Maples, who routed the layout to complement the surrounding homes and added manmade ponds to introduce additional challenge.
Ownership has changed several times over the course's history. Two brothers originally owned the club before selling it to Seven Springs (Club Corp) in the early 1990s. The Troyer family acquired it in the early 2000s and held it until 2023, when it was sold to an Ohio-based company.

A number of improvements have been made over the years, including relocating the pro shop and maintenance area, the addition of chipping and putting greens, and later a driving range. More recent work has included updates to the pro shop, interior and exterior renovations to the clubhouse, and refreshing of the pool area. The club also has a restaurant.
