About Davis Park Golf Course
Davis Park Golf Course in Fruit Heights was the first public golf course built between Ogden and Salt Lake City, developed by Davis County at a time when many local residents doubted the project. It opened as Memorial Park, laid out on former farmland along a stretch of countryside noted for its scenery.
The county's first full-time recreation director, Cullimore, championed the course, which was established roughly six decades ago and quickly became well used. It played a role in the golf careers of several Utah Golf Hall of Fame members and in the strength of Davis High School's golf program.

The course proved popular enough that county officials later built a second layout, Valley View Golf Course, a few miles north along U.S. 89 in Layton.
