Black Jack's Crossing is the golf course at Lajitas Golf Resort, a 27,000-acre property along the Rio Grande in far West Texas. The layout stretches past 7,400 yards from the back tees, with three additional sets of tees, the shortest measuring just over 5,000 yards, so the course can be played at a range of lengths.
The design is the work of Lanny Wadkins, winner of the 1977 PGA Championship, an eight-time U.S. Ryder Cup team member and the 1995 team captain, and a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame. The course takes its name from U.S. Army General John "Black Jack" Pershing, who pursued Pancho Villa across the Rio Grande, and the routing works the historic terrain into its holes.
