Stone Creek Golf Club

Stone Creek Golf Club in Sherman, Texas, plays across rolling, hilly ground, with fairways that rise and fall and slope noticeably from side to side.

The layout mixes risk and reward. A slight dogleg-right par 5 climbs to a crest before running downhill to a wide, shallow green, with a fairway bunker set to catch lay-up shots. A short dogleg-right par 4 tempts longer hitters to take on the green, though trees screen the target and bunkers and timber guard the right side, leaving a small, undulating putting surface as the reward for a more conservative tee shot. Elsewhere, a fairway is pinched between a bunker on the left and a pond on the right, ahead of a large green with pronounced breaks.
