About Lake Arlington Golf Course
Lake Arlington Golf Course opened in 1963 as a Ralph Plummer design, reflecting his belief that a course should follow the contours of the land it occupies. Plummer used the existing terrain, elevation changes, streams and prevailing winds to shape holes and approach shots, turning what had been a wild flood plain into a layout meant to test stronger players while remaining playable for beginners.

Two renovations have followed. After a major flood in 1989 broke over the emergency spillway west of the 12th hole, covering much of the course and leaving eight feet of silt on the eighth fairway, repairs included a rebuilt second green along with re-engineered ponds and drainage. A second project, finished in 2009, reconstructed all of the greens.
The property itself carries considerable history. Archeological digs uncovered artifacts dated to nearly 9,000 years ago, and in the 1830s Caddo, Cherokee and Tonkawa communities lived along Village Creek, which runs through the course.
