About Hermitage Golf Course

Hermitage Golf Course, a public facility in Old Hickory, has been in operation since 1986 and offers two 18-hole courses.

The General's Retreat opened in 1986 to a design by architect Gary Roger Baird and served as host of the LPGA Sara Lee Classic from 1988 through 1999. The layout runs along the Cumberland River and offers multiple sets of tees, making it playable for a wide range of abilities.

The President's Reserve followed in 2001, designed by Denis Griffiths, whose work also includes the resort courses at Chateau Elan near Atlanta. It winds through some 300 acres of natural Tennessee wetlands and along the banks of the Cumberland River, stretching up to 7,200 yards, with tee options that allow golfers of differing skill levels to set their own level of challenge.
