About Saddle Creek Golf Club
Saddle Creek Golf Club in Lewisburg was designed by Gene Bates, a member of the American Society of Golf Course Architects whose work spans the United States, including Hawaii, as well as Europe and Southeast Asia, often in collaboration with PGA Tour players Fred Couples and Johnny Miller. From 1983 to 1988 he was Vice President of Design and Construction Services for Jack Nicklaus Golf Services in North Palm Beach, Florida.

The layout measures 6,700 yards from the championship tees. The front nine places a premium on accuracy, with tree-lined fairways that reward well-placed tee shots, while lakes and streams figure into play on seven holes and give the course much of its character.
A significant renovation of the putting surfaces was completed in the summer of 2026, converting the greens to TifEagle Bermuda. The rebuilt greens reopened for play in September 2026 with more consistent playing conditions.
