Dead Horse Lake Golf Course
About Dead Horse Lake Golf Course
Dead Horse Lake Golf Course sits just off I-40/75 in the West Knoxville/Cedar Bluff area and has been part of the local golf scene since 1973. Brothers Joe and Pete Parker began building the course in 1971 on the family farm, encouraged by their father Bill Parker and aided by local course operators and a USGA instructional book.
The course takes its name from a local legend dating to 1792, in which an explorer's horse became trapped in quicksand on the property; the swampy sinkhole eventually filled to form the lake beside the third hole. That par 4 plays 365 yards from the back tees and 320 from the middle, offering either a carry of roughly 260 yards over the water or two shots of about 160 yards crossing the lake twice.
