Bluegrass Yacht & Country Club
About Bluegrass Yacht & Country Club
Bluegrass Yacht & Country Club traces its origins to 1951, when Hendersonville residents founded the Hendersonville Country Club as a social and recreational gathering place. The original site included a small clubhouse, a modest golf course and basic amenities, and play officially began in July 1954 with a Father-Son tournament.
From 1965 through 1967, the club hosted the Music City Pro-Celebrity Golf Tournament, which drew professionals such as Sam Snead, Byron Nelson and Tommy Bolt alongside entertainers including Phil Harris, Archie Campbell, Jimmy Newman, Ray Price and Charlie Walker. Minnie Pearl helped promote the event around town.

In the early 1970s the club moved to its present location along Old Hickory Lake and took its current name, building an 18-hole championship course designed by Robert Bruce Harris. Later additions expanded the private club to include a clubhouse, tennis courts, a swimming pool and dining facilities.
