Dayton Golf & Country Club has served the surrounding area since 1957, when it opened as a nine-hole layout. A renovation in the early 1970s expanded it to 18 holes, making it the only full-length course in Rhea County. The club sits at the foot of the mountain a short drive north of Dayton, just off U.S. Highway 27.
The fairways combine common and Tifway 419 Bermuda grass, while the greens are Zoysia. Practice facilities include putting greens and a short range suited to working on short-game mechanics, distance control and accuracy.
The club is semi-private, with memberships available and guest play welcome. A full-service restaurant and a pro shop round out the facilities.
