Lake Tansi Village Resort
About Lake Tansi Village Resort
Lake Tansi Village Resort sits on the Cumberland Plateau at Crossville, Tennessee, on land that traces back to a federal tract bought in Cumberland County for homestead development. When portions of that acreage were offered for sale in the early 1950s, local developer Cosby Harrison acquired a number of acres with the aim of damming a large lake as the foundation of a resort community. Harrison, who believed the plateau would one day draw visitors from across the country, built the lake first known as Lake Harrison.

Harrison had little interest in operating a resort, and after three seasons he began looking for a buyer. In December 1963 an Alabama visitor, Fred Swaney, arrived unannounced at the property's business office, was taken with the lake, and asked about purchasing it — bringing the resort under new ownership.
