The Country Club of Spartanburg
About The Country Club of Spartanburg
The Country Club of Spartanburg is a private club in Spartanburg, South Carolina, with roots reaching back to 1908. It was founded that summer by a group of civic-minded local residents who met at the home of A.W. Twichell, whose house served as the club's first informal clubhouse and who became its first president.
Two years later the club finished its first purpose-built clubhouse, erected across from the original tennis courts, and the building soon became the main gathering place for members.

Golf has remained at the center of club life through generations of members. Over the years the club has hosted LPGA competitors and continues to stage the Bobby Chapman Invitational, a tournament for younger players.
