Palmetto Hills Golf Club opened in 1979 under the original name "The Widowmaker," designed by George Cobb, the architect behind the Par-3 course at Augusta National and Quail Hollow in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The layout plays across hilly terrain with notable elevation change, leaving golfers to handle a variety of uneven lies and to think through the strategy on each hole. The 14th is the signature hole, a downhill one-shotter of 180 yards from the championship tee with a drop of some 50 feet and a creek running along the front and right side of the green. Fairways are Bermuda grass, and the Champion Bermuda greens are undulating.
Carts are Club Car Tempos fitted with VISAGE GPS technology, providing real-time yardages, pace-of-play tracking and the ability to order food and drinks from the cart.
