Santee National Golf Club
About Santee National Golf Club
Santee National Golf Club traces its beginnings to 1989, when owners Cholly and Delaine Clark were developing the course at Chapel Creek Plantation. Hurricane Hugo swept across South Carolina's Lowcountry just weeks before the planned opening, scattering hundreds of fallen trees and debris across the property. Conditions were so disorienting in the storm's aftermath that drivers mistakenly crossed the bridge at the 18th tee box, believing it to be a road off the freeway.

The setback became a turning point. Faced with rebuilding and with rooms to fill at the family's nearby hotel, Cholly Clark set about promoting his hometown as a golfing stop. Over the following two decades, Santee grew into a recognized inland golf destination in South Carolina, with the club among its longest-standing courses.
