The Bel Short Course, formerly known as The Par 3 at Woodhaven, has been part of the Pendleton area since the early 1980s. It was built around 1983 by Dick Herbert from a design by Willie B. Lewis, whose other local work includes Smithfields Country Club, Pickens Country Club, Southern Oaks and Bald Mountain.
The course is now run by Jon Guenthner and Coby Gambrell of Boscobel Golf Club, following previous owners Clint and Lorri Wright and Scott Womble. Current plans call for converting the layout to a complete par 3, adding tee boxes and updating the lighting for evening play.
The short layout suits quick rounds and a range of abilities, from beginners to experienced players looking to sharpen their short games.
