About Litchfield Country Club
Litchfield Country Club opened in 1966 as the first golf course on Pawleys Island, helping establish the surrounding stretch of coast as a golf destination. The course was designed by Willard Byrd, and the club operates as semi-private.
The traditional layout measures under 6,700 yards from the back tees and is routed with eight pronounced doglegs, a feature that discourages players from simply hitting driver at every opportunity and instead rewards positioning off the tee. Greens are small by contemporary standards but mostly open in front, which allows a range of approach shots, including running the ball onto the putting surface.
