About Country Club of Newberry
Founded in 1922, the Country Club of Newberry began as a private club created by a small group of local citizens who wanted a place of their own for golf, swimming, social gatherings and, in time, tennis. At the time, courses were scarce in the middle part of South Carolina.
The back nine was added in 1976 through the combined work of the membership and the club's management. That original design has remained largely unchanged, with improved maintenance practices over the years adding to the playability of the layout.
The club has a long history of serving Newberry and the surrounding area, and its membership remains tied to that heritage.
