About Wachesaw East Golf Club

Opened in 1996, Wachesaw East Golf Club is an eighteen-hole championship course designed by architect Clyde Johnson, built on the grounds of a former rice plantation in the fishing village of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, roughly 20 minutes south of Myrtle Beach International Airport.

The layout draws on traditional Scottish design, with mounding and rolling fairways leading to fast Tif-Eagle greens. Freshwater lakes and wetlands frame much of the property, and five sets of tees allow golfers of varying ability to find a comfortable length.

The course hosted four LPGA Tour events: the 1997 Susan G. Komen International, the City of Hope Myrtle Beach Classic in 1998 and 1999, and the 2000 Kathy Ireland/Greens.com Classic. The course record of 62, ten under par, was set by Meg Mallon during the 1998 City of Hope Classic.
