The Long Bay Golf Club

Long Bay Golf Club in Longs, South Carolina, is one of two courses in the Myrtle Beach area designed by Jack Nicklaus, and the layout still reflects the architect's original intentions more than three decades after it opened.

Nicklaus walked the property in 1986, shortly after his Masters victory, and remarked that he preferred the open character of the site to a conventional tree-lined design. The finished 18 holes are shaped by expansive waste bunkers and mounding, which frame the course visually and leave room for players to choose their own lines of attack, as well as creative routes back into play after a wayward shot. The back nine in particular offers a varied set of challenges, with holes 10, 13 and 18 each testing golfers in a different way.
