Village Greens Golf Club

Village Greens Golf Club traces its origins to 1969, when a group of local men formed the Mountain Valley Development Company with the aim of bringing public golf to the area. Roughly 100 acres were assembled between Inman and Gramling, and area golf course architect Russell Breeden was engaged to lay out the course, with grading handled by L.L. Hyder Construction of Landrum.

Traces of the property's farming past survive, including pear trees along the 10th fairway that remain from the orchard once on the site. Several of the lakes and ponds in play also predate construction. Because the land was largely open, many trees were planted to define the holes, though the planting was arranged to preserve the long views; nearly every hole looks out toward the Blue Ridge Mountains, from Glassy Mountain to Chimney Rock.
