About Harbour Town Golf Links
Harbour Town Golf Links is part of The Sea Pines Resort on Hilton Head Island and was designed by Pete Dye. The course sits beside the Harbour Town yacht basin, a development conceived by Sea Pines founder Charles E. Fraser and inspired by a harbour in Portofino, Italy. Fraser's plans emphasized preserving the island's natural landscape, sparing a centuries-old live oak rather than adding boat slips, and brought about the construction of the Harbour Town Lighthouse.

Fraser launched the Heritage Classic in 1969, and Arnold Palmer's victory in that first tournament drew national attention to the course. The event has since raised millions for charity through the Heritage Classic Foundation and helped establish the profile of both Hilton Head Island and the resort.
Nearby, the Sea Pines Forest Preserve has been protected wildlife habitat since 1970, with trails, bridle paths, wetland boardwalks, bridges and fishing docks.
