About Triggs Memorial Golf Course
Triggs Memorial Golf Course was designed by Donald Ross in the early 1930s and opened in the spring of 1932. It stands as Rhode Island's only genuinely public Ross course, among several the architect laid out in the state.
The layout follows the natural contours of the land, with moderate, relatively gentle elevation changes and small greens guarded by strategically placed bunkers. The routing includes long, demanding par 4s, par 5s that can be reached in two, and a notable set of par 3s, with the existing topography used to create visual illusions that influence strategy and course management.

FCG Associates assumed operation of the course in the spring of 1990, when conditions had declined considerably. Working from the original Ross plans, they pursued both improved conditioning and restoration, rebuilding or replacing the contours of greens and fairways, the tees and most of the bunkers over subsequent years.
