Broad Run Golfer's Club

Broad Run Golfer's Club in West Chester is home to The Grille, a restaurant set within the historic Bordley House. Its kitchen takes cues from the building's namesake and his interest in artisan food, craft beer and local agriculture, with menus that change from season to season.

John Beale Bordley, born in Annapolis, Maryland, in 1727, worked as a lawyer and served as a judge in Baltimore, but became best known for his studies and writings on American farming. Drawing on leading British agricultural thinking, he tested methods of his own and urged area farmers to rotate crops and use manure to enrich their soil. In 1791 Bordley and his wife Sarah relocated to Pennsylvania, keeping a home in Philadelphia and a sizable farm in Chester County, where he carried out agricultural experiments, published his work, and produced his own beer, wine and other goods on the property.
