About Buffalo Golf Course
Buffalo Golf Course sits on former farmland in Sarver, Pennsylvania, on terrain the Waldron family selected for its relatively level lie after a year of searching geological survey maps. Because golfers walked in that era, proximity to a major road mattered; the family anticipated that Route 28, then still under construction between Pittsburgh and Sarver, would open the site to the wider Pittsburgh region.

Work began in 1966, with the Waldrons designing and building the course themselves and hiring a local contractor to handle the heavy earth-moving equipment. The first nine holes opened to the public in July 1967, and the full 18 were finished the following year. The course takes its name from the surrounding township.
Changes have continued over the years, including tree plantings, added bunkers and ponds, and cart facilities. A larger clubhouse was built in 1992, with a covered side porch added in 2002. Two of the Waldron children, Ken and Maggie, now manage the course.
