About Aronimink Golf Club
Aronimink Golf Club traces its origins to December 1896, when members of the Belmont Cricket Club, led by Harrison Townsend, laid out a handful of simple golf holes at 52nd Street and Chester Avenue in Philadelphia. The group incorporated under the Aronimink name in 1900, then moved in 1902 to 54th Street and Whitby Avenue, and again in 1913 to Drexel Hill, where the club stayed for 13 years.
In 1926 the club acquired 300 acres in Newtown Square, and the membership relocated there on Memorial Day of 1928. Donald Ross designed the 18-hole course on the property, while the clubhouse still in use today was the work of architect Charles Barton Keen.
