Big River Golf Course
About Big River Golf Course
Big River Golf Course is an 18-hole municipal course set just south of the Columbia River in Umatilla, Oregon. Several holes along the northern edge of the property look out over the river and McNary Dam. The layout plays to a par of 70 across more than 100 acres, measuring 6,130 yards from the back tees, with four par 5s, eight par 4s and six par 3s.
The terrain is largely flat, making the course manageable for both walkers and those taking a cart. Big River is open year round, offers annual memberships for all ages and hosts a number of tournaments through the season. It also serves as the home course for the Hermiston and Umatilla high school golf teams.

The course began in the late 1940s as a nine-hole layout known as McNary Golf and Country Club, built to provide recreation for the crews constructing McNary Dam.
