About Gearhart Golf Links
Gearhart Golf Links traces its origins to 1891, when a group of Scottish settlers sank tin cans into the dunes at Gearhart and played toward them with sticks and balls, at a time when no formal golf course existed west of the Mississippi. The sandy, rolling terrain reportedly reminded them of the old links of St. Andrews and Montrose.
Several architects have influenced the layout over the decades, among them Chandler Egan, who worked on Pebble Beach ahead of the 1929 U.S. Amateur and later on a number of Oregon clubs including Waverley Country Club, Oswego Lake Country Club, Riverside Golf and Country Club and Tualatin Country Club. A restoration was carried out in 2013, returning firm, fast playing surfaces and open coastal vistas.

The 18-hole links-style course sits in the town of Gearhart on the northern Oregon coast. It operates as a resort course open to the public, with membership capped at 230.
