About Gearhart Golf Links
Gearhart Golf Links traces its origins to 1891, when a group of Scottish settlers sank tin cans into the coastal dunes and played toward them with sticks and balls, long before formal golf had taken root west of the Mississippi. The dunes landscape reminded them of the old links at St. Andrews and Montrose. Several architects have shaped the layout over the years, among them Chandler Egan, who worked at Pebble Beach ahead of the 1929 U.S. Amateur and later at Oregon clubs including Waverley, Oswego Lake, Riverside and Tualatin. A restoration was carried out in 2013.

The course now plays as an 18-hole links-style layout on the north Oregon coast, in the town of Gearhart. It operates as a resort course open to the public, with membership capped at 230. Open vistas and firm, fast playing surfaces are features of the restored links character.
