About Dornick Hills Golf & Country
Dornick Hills dates to 1914, when a four-hole course was laid out on land that had been Perry Maxwell's dairy farm. It was the first course Maxwell designed and built, and the full layout was completed in 1923. The club remains one of the region's historically significant courses and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.
The name comes from the Gaelic word "dornick," meaning small rocks, thousands of which had to be cleared before construction. Natural rock formations still appear across the property, most notably the cliff at the sixteenth, known as The Cliff Hole.

Maxwell, once an Ardmore National Bank employee, went on to design more than 70 courses, among them Southern Hills and Prairie Dunes, and to redesign some 50 others, including Pine Valley and Augusta National.
