Berlin Lake Golf opens with a run of four lengthy par fours that place a premium on approach play and short-game precision.
The first is a slight dogleg right where position matters more than power, with trees guarding the left, right and long sides. Its green slopes sharply from back left to front right, so the wrong half leaves a testing putt or chip while the correct side offers a realistic birdie look. The second of the stretch is the longest par four on the course; it runs downhill but still demands a solid drive to be reached in two, and its two-tier green is bordered by trouble left and right with out of bounds behind, making a shot short of an upper-level pin the safer play.
