About Denison Golf Club at Granville
Denison Golf Club at Granville traces its origins to 1922, when local railroad and coal businessman John Sutphin Jones struck a development agreement with the Village of Granville to build both the Granville Inn and an accompanying golf course. Jones commissioned Scottish architect Donald Ross, who laid out more than 500 courses in the early 1900s, to design the layout. Ross drew up the plans in 1924, and the course opened the following year.

The design reflects Ross's familiarity with the seaside links of his native Scotland, featuring 63 sand bunkers and elevated, rolling greens. Granville's hilly, wooded ground gave him natural contours to work with rather than manufactured hazards, in keeping with his preference for using what the land already offered.
The course is open to the public and plays from four sets of tees, allowing golfers of varying ability to find a suitable length.
