Woodland Golf Club
About Woodland Golf Club
The land now occupied by Woodland Golf Club in Champaign County was once open pasture held by the Woodruff family, part of the area's farming history.
Plans to convert the property into a golf course were announced in 1971. The layout was drawn up by Jack Kidwell, a PGA professional based in Columbus. The first nine holes opened in 1972, and the full 18 were finished by 1974. The course features rolling fairways and natural water features, and was intended from the start to serve both public and semi-private play in an unhurried setting.
Over the years Woodland has hosted league nights, weekend rounds and family outings, becoming a gathering point for local golfers.
