Silver Creek Golf Club sits in Waterloo, in New York's Finger Lakes region, and has been owned by Norm Sharman since 1994. Golf runs in the Sharman family: Norm's father, Graham, owned the Big Oak Golf Club in Geneva beginning in the 1970s, a course now run by Norm's brother, Dave. The family has shaped Silver Creek into a relaxed, family-oriented place to play.
The two nines differ in age and character. The front nine, built about a decade after the back, plays open but still asks questions, with approach shots typically falling to a short iron regardless of the club chosen from the tee.

The older back nine, holes 10 through 18, is the sterner test. Water figures on seven of its nine holes, mature trees have tightened the fairways, and rolling hills and slopes produce awkward lies, all set against a quiet creek and established landscaping. The Dungeon Lounge offers refreshments at the turn.
